Here's my first attempt of a make-shift photo booth. I held the photo booth in the light room that accompanies my thesis studio in the Guilford College Hildebrandt thesis studio house. We were having an open house that night and guests could roam through the thesis studios to check out what thesis students have been working on this semester. It was a blast-- there was funk music playing upstairs, Blondie and such in my room where the photo booth was happening, a performance piece in the next room over, all amidst cupcakes and kids running around on a sugar high. Everyone let loose and was able to unwind and have fun after a long work week. I hope to have a round two of the photo booth next semester at our next open house. Look below to see some of my favorites from the night as well as the light pattern i used.

I decided to use basic butterfly lighting in this shoot, so I used one strobe above and in front of the subject, pointing downwards on the face. I was having tripod difficulties so I ended up moving around a bit, but next time I would stabilize myself as close to the light as possible to minimize shadow. I will also bounce the strobe off the ceiling for more subdued shadows on the face/wall.
Next time, I definitely need a larger backdrop! Some of the shots show a little of the wall color on the edges which was not my intention. I was thinking about maybe a nice velvet fabric for the backdrop next time. I also intend to light the background with a small soft box next time to get rid of those patchy shadows on the wall.
